Mentoring and Networking Opportunities

Engineering @cal Online Community Career Networker
- A networking and mentorship program for Cal students and alumni.
- Join the online alumni community Engineering@cal by emailing bears@berkeley.edu for a pin number.
- If you are already member click on the Career Networker option.
- Create your own Career Network profile.
- You control what information is viewed by others.
MentorNet
- An award-winning nonprofit e-mentoring network founded in 1997
- Provides highly motivated proteges from the world's top colleges and universities with one-on-one, email-based mentoring with mentors from industry and academia
- Particularly but not exclusively for women and other underrepresented groups
- Students may request mentors from their current school so we encourage you to sign-up today to be an e-mentor
- Register directly with MentorNet and request a Berkeley Engineering student as your mentee. (MentorNet cannot guarantee a Berkeley Engineer)
Techbridge Mentor
- A program which encourages girls to get involved in science and engineering
sponsored by the Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland, California. - Berkeley Engineering alumni may be placed on a mentoring team with a female undergraduate engineering student from Berkeley.
- Work with staff at Techbridge to design a hands-on project that helps the mentee develop her technical aptitude, increase her self-confidence and develop a strong interest in engineering and science.

Speaking Opportunities with Students
Cal Day Volunteer
- Volunteer at the Cal Day Engineering Alumni Relations table and talk to prospective engineering students and their families. The next Cal Day event will be held in April 2008.

Real World Engineering Career Conference Panelist
- A career conference for current engineering students held every spring semester. The next Real World Engineering event will be held in February 2008.
- The call for volunteers panelists goes out each November and you must complete the RWE volunteer form to be considered as a panelist.
Resource for the Engineers' Joint Council
- EJC is a student group serving as the liaison between the students and the College of Engineering.
- They provide organizational and financial support for their member societies, facilitate communication between students and the College administration, and coordinate efforts and events involving all the students of the College of Engineering.
- They are interested in inviting alumni as guests speakers for student groups.

Success Seminar Speaker
- The Engineering Alumni Relations Success Seminars provide meaningful opportunities for our alumni and students to connect.
- The topics focus on training in leadership, corporate structure, personal communication, professionalism, management, and ethics.
