BEAR News February 2008With last week's warm weather it's hard to believe the official start of spring is still a month away! Luckily for us February marks the beginning of our spring alumni programs and volunteer opportunities. BEAR News January 2008Spring Semester started on Tuesday, January 15 and students and faculty are back in full swing! As you will see below, 2008 promises to be a year packed with opportunities for alumni to reconnect with fellow Berkeley Engineering alumni, as well as hear from faculty and meet current students. BEAR News December 2007Last month we informed you of the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society's (CITRIS) weekly Research Exchange webcasts and lectures. But, did you know that CITRIS webcasts are now archived on YouTube? With the launch of youtube.com/citris you can find archived CITRIS webcasts all in one virtual place. View the archive on your next lunch break! BEAR News November 2007Although we will miss Karin Mack, who moved to UC Davis, BEAR News must go on! BEAR News October 2007We're excited to announce the launch of the College's redesigned website. Our hope is that the new look will be more user (alumni) friendly. Please take a look and tell us what you think! You can begin on the College's homepage and explore the links or start on the new alumni webpage. BEAR News September 2007Great news for alumni on the east coast! Engineering's new dean, Shankar Sastry, will meet alumni at two early evening receptions in Cambridge and New York City, Sept. 24 and Oct. 9 respectively. This is a great chance for alumni to meet Shankar and network with others who live and work in the area. Details are in the calendar section below or on our website. BEAR News August 2007Exciting news at the College of Engineering! S. Shankar Sastry has been named dean of the College. Shankar is the NEC Distinguished Professor, former chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and most recently headed up CITRIS, the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society. He will become the 12th dean of the college, succeeding former engineering dean, A. Richard Newton, who died this past January, less than two months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. |
