Faculty HonorsIn May, EECS professor Leon O. Chua became the first recipient of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)’s Gustav Robert Kirchhoff Award. The award recognizes extraordinary contributions to the field of electronic circuits. “Chua is widely recognized as the father of nonlinear circuit theory and of cellular neural networks, which have become established as a new architectural framework for nanoscale electronics and bio-inspired electronic and photonic systems,” says the IEEE.
