Boeing engineering
executive to speak in Soda Hall
On Tuesday, October 4, come meet Gary Fitzmire, vice president of engineering
and information technology for Boeing. His lecture is part of the “View
from the Top” series featuring industry leaders. The event takes
place at 4 p.m. in the HP Auditorium, 306 Soda Hall. Refreshments will
be served afterward.

The inquiring mind of Engineering News wants to know. Your
editor covers all things student engineer: cool or unique research projects
or extracurricular activities, new or unusual courses, and student group
activities, to name a few. We also publish student and faculty honors
and awards, announcements, upcoming events, and alumni stories. Email

Upcoming ME seminar
On Tuesday, September 27, the ME department presents the seminar, “Metrology,
Modeling, and Control for Semiconductor Manufacturing,” by EECS/ME
professor Kameshwar Poolla. At 4 p.m., Poolla will discuss the objectives,
components, and history of his research in developing metrology for
lithography and plasma-etching applications. The seminar will be in
Room 3110 in Etcheverry Hall. Coffee, tea, and cookies will be served
at 3:30 p.m.
Attention seniors
Come to the EJC meeting on Monday, October 3, from 6 to 6:20 p.m. in
Bechtel 120A to hear about how you can get involved with the Senior
Gift Campaign. There will be tons of pizza and tasty treats to satisfy
