Open source lectures are open for all
If you’re interested in open source, Wednesday, October 12, is your day. Two industry leaders will deliver separate talks during the afternoon. At 4 p.m., Kim Polese, CEO of Spikesource, will deliver a talk entitled, “An Open Source World” as part of the Management of Technology’s Lecture Series. Polese has founded several high-profile Silicon Valley software startups. The event takes place in the Wells Fargo Room, C420, at the Haas School of Business. At 6 p.m. in Sibley Auditorium, John Roberts, CEO and co-founder of SugarCRM, will deliver a talk entitled, “The Open Source Business Model.” SugarCRM is an application provider for commercial open source customer relationship management (CRM) solutions. The lecture is part of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology’s Distinguished Innovator Lecture Series. For more information, go to http://cet.berkeley.edu/.

Technology Breakthrough Competition
The 2005 Technology Breakthrough Competition is seeking entrants who are developing technologies that advance or make the world a better place to live, work, or play. The competition is open to all Berkeley undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty. Winners will receive national press coverage, more than $20,000 in cash awards and prizes, and strategic networking opportunities with venture capitalists and industry leaders.
