Technology Breakthrough Competition

Are you working on research that aims to make the world a substantially better place? Is it something that may have commercial potential? If so, enter the UC Berkeley Technology Breakthrough Competition. Winners receive $25,000 in cash prizes and a chance to make industry connections. The deadline to apply is October 20. TBP Career Fair

It’s coming! More than 25 companies (Boston Scientific, Citigroup, Ford Motor, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Oracle Corp. and Alexza Pharmaceuticals, just to name a few) will be at the Tau Beta Pi Science and Engineering Career Fair to answer any questions and take resumes. The fair will take place on Tuesday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Pauley Ballroom, MLK Student Union. So come, explore and be sure to bring your resumes! There will be raffle prizes!

He’s a genius!

The answer to last week’s brainteaser is $325 per delivery. ME graduate student Nicola Fung, ME seniors Matt Darrow and Daniel Ramey, ME junior Timothy Black, Engineering Undeclared sophomore Jae Won Do and CEE graduate student Joel Dickerson all got it right. Global warming discussion

On Wednesday, October 18, the Applied Science and Technology Fall 2006 Colloquium presents “Global Warming vs. Nature’s Cycle and Sorting the Two Out,” by Physics professor Richard Muller. The lecture will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Sibley Auditorium, Bechtel Engineering Center. Don’t miss it!
