Mrs. Puffem’s Cigarettes

Puff on this week’s brainteaser. The first person to e-mail the right answer will have his or her name printed in the next issue of Engineering News along with the answer. Twice a semester, one of the bi-weekly winners will be picked at random to win two movie tickets, courtesy of Alumni Relations.

Mrs. Puffem decided to quit smoking after finishing the 27 cigarettes she had left. It was her habit to smoke two thirds of each cigarette. She discovered that with some tape she could stick three butts together to make a new cigarette. With 27 cigarettes how many cigarettes can she smoke before she gives it up forever?
