U.S. News & World Report engineering graduate school rankings show Berkeley holding at third

Berkeley held onto third place behind front runners MIT and Stanford University in last week’s release of the 2005 U.S. News & World Report engineering graduate school rankings.

The widely read annual survey evaluates 167 U.S. engineering graduate schools based on factors such as research activity, faculty resources and student selectivity.

While Industrial Engineering, MSE and ME were all bumped down a notch from last year’s position, and BioE dropped from the top 10, other engineering majors gained considerable ground.

ChemE rose one spot to tie for first place, while EE and Environmental Engineering also gained a point. CS staged a coup by gaining three points to tie for first place with MIT and Stanford. The CEE program stayed at number one.
