Why does the Senior Gift Campaign support the Berkeley Engineering Fund?

In the last few years, due to a significant decline in state support, the Senior Class Gift committee has directed the class gift to the Berkeley Engineering Fund (BEF).

Instead of buying a bench or a light post, the senior class contributes to the ongoing success of the College by supporting activities and programs that are vital to an engineering education at Berkeley.

Private support makes it possible for Berkeley to remain one of the top engineering schools in the nation. The BEF is made up of donations from College of Engineering alumni, parents, friends, and students.

It picks up where state funding and student fees leave off, to provide more than just the basics for Berkeley Engineers. The BEF finances activities and programs such as the Engineers’ Joint Council, Undergraduate Research Opportunities, the Engineering Cooperative Education Program, CUES, the Julia Morgan Engineering Program, Kresge Engineering

Library, Engineering News, and student projects like the solar car, concrete canoe, and human-powered vehicle.

If you have benefited from any of these programs, you know how valuable they are. These opportunities are available now because of the generosity of past students who believed in giving back.

The Senior Gift is a way to say thanks for the opportunities you had at Cal and help future generations have the same. Make an investment in your future by keeping Berkeley Engineering on top. Give today at www.coe.berkeley.edu/seniorgift.
