Google chief to speak at Spring Engineering Commencement
The College of Engineering recently announced that Eric Schmidt, chairman of the executive committee and chief executive officer of Google, will deliver the keynote speech at Spring 2005 Engineering Commencement. An internationally recognized technology leader and business strategist, Schmidt (M.S. '79, Ph.D. '82 EECS) heads up Google, the Internet's largest and fastest search engine.

EE picks new chair
Professor Edward Lee was announced as the new chair of the EE Division and associate chair of the EECS Department by EECS chair Jitendra Malik, at the first faculty lunch of the semester on Monday, Jan. 24. Lee took on his new role Feb. 1.

Get savvy about business in Asia
Engineering students are invited to attend TheBerkeleyMBA Asia Business Conference on Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Haas School of Business. This one-day event focuses on current topics and opportunities in Asian business. There will be numerous panels covering the biotechnology, wireless, and gaming industries. Take a study break with folk music
Berkeley singer-songwriter and fiddler Laurie Lewis and mandolinist Tom Rozum will perform at a benefit for Engineers for a Sustainable World on Tuesday, Feb. 15, Pauley Ballroom in the MLK student union.
