WHY GIVE? "It's about identifying yourself with a great tradition," says Hakeem Yusuff, a ChemE senior, here with his Berkeley Engineering license plate frame, which he received for making a $25 gift. "It's an opportunity to give back to the College where you've been nurtured and seen a lot of personal growth. I challenge other ChemE seniors to donate."

Seniors: Do a good deed and give a few bucks to the Senior Gift Campaign

Seniors, we know you're on tight budgets, but your extra change will give students who follow in your footsteps the same quality experience you've had. Now's the time to donate to the Senior Class Gift Campaign. For how to give, see next page.

"It feels great to help future engineers," says Senior Gift Committee member Kelly Huang, an IEOR senior. "Plus you get a free license plate frame."

With a $25 gift or more, donors receive a free Berkeley Engineering license plate frame (you can't buy it anywhere else!), plus a keychain, decal and pen. Donor names will be published on the College Web site's honor roll of senior donors, who can also hobnob with University Chancellor Birgeneau in a strawberry and champagne reception and see their names printed in the commencement program.

"It's all about the fame," says CE senior and committee member Sarah Berndt. "It's also knowing that these funds are directly linked back to student clubs."

Senior donations fund not only engineering student groups, but also services like Kresge Library, faculty recruitment, and grounds upkeep.

So far about 72 seniors have donated, bringing the amount raised to $2,000. The goal is to raise $7,500 by the end of the semester and beat last year's senior class contribution of $5,503. If that goal is met, Bob Sanderson ('66 '70 IEOR) will double it and contribute $15,000 of his own money to the campaign. The Senior Gift Committee also hopes to increase participation from 35 percent last year to 40 percent this year.
