Week, April 12-15
Celebrate with free food, prizes and games
Put down those books and come out for some fun in the sun. This year's
Engineering Week, a uniquely Berkeley event celebrating student engineers,
is packed with daytime and evening activities that coordinator Grace
Hsu says will be cooler than last year.
"We're doing activities that people can stop by for 20 minutes and check
out," she says. "You don't have to sign up. It's an opportunity to be
social and see other departments. It's also an opportunity for students
to check out engineering student groups by visiting their tables."
There will be prizes for contests, including a Sony Playstation Portable.
Day activities are from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on the lawn between Memorial
Glade and Evans Hall. In the event of rain, all events will be hosted
on the Evans patio area. Engineering Week is brought to you by the letters
EJC (Engineers Joint Council) and all the student

IEOR DAY: Learn all about IEOR (IEE)
What's doin': Giant bowling (EJC), cotton candy (EMBS), musical performance

After dark: An engineering mixer at Bear's Lair, 8-10 p.m. All ages,
free food and raffle prizes. (XE)
Wednesday, April 13: Sports Day
What's doin': Giant soccer (EMBS), tug of war (PTS), snow cones (AUWICSEE),
potato sack race (TBP), BBQ (PTS)
After dark: Free broomball, an engineering stress reliever, 10 p.m.
at the third level of Upper Hearst Parking Structure (EJC)
Thursday, April 14: Summer Fun
What's doin': Dunk tank - Dunk the mystery guests! (HKN and AUWICSEE),
nitrogen ice cream (MSEA), three-legged obstacle course race (ASCE),
BBQ (TBP)
After dark: Date auction, an engineering charity event for Oakland Children's
Hospital, 7 p.m. at Sibley Auditorium. Come get some lovin'. (EJC and
SWE)
Friday, April 15: Contest Day
What's doin': Nerd contest, with grand prize of a Sony Playstation Portable!
Inquire for more details at the ASME table (ASME and PASAE) Pie-eating
relay (SES), hot dog-eating contest (IEEE), BBQ (XE)
After dark: Capture the flag, complete with water balloon fight! 9 p.m.
at Bechtel Terrace (ASME)
