Companies at Real World
Engineering
Here’s a sampling of the companies and agencies that will be represented:
Treadwell & Rollo, Agilent Technologies, Sandia National Labs, California
Public Utilities Commission, California Academy of Sciences, Socket Communications,
Chabot College, AXA Rosenberg Investment Management, the French Embassy, Barclays
Global Investors, Intel, Wells Fargo Bank, TSMC, Beck-Tech, Cisco Systems,
Kleinfelder, Harris & Associates, GeoSyntec Consultants, and Chevron. In
addition, Sandia National Labs will give a free mini-calculator to every student
who turns in an evaluation form at the end of the event.
Innovation in IT
On Monday, January 30, the CITRIS Distinguished Speaker Series presents “Opportunities
for Innovation in the IT Industry,” a lecture by Mark Dean. Dean is an
IBM fellow and vice president of systems in IBM Research. The event begins
at 4 p.m. in the HP Auditorium, 306 Soda Hall.
Philanthropist to share his thoughts on clean water technologies
On Wednesday, February 1, successful businessman and philanthropist Ken Behring
will discuss his passion for advancing technology that supports safe drinking
water in developing regions with Dean Richard Newton. Part of the College’s
View from the Top lecture series, the discussion will take place at 4 p.m.
in Sibley Auditorium and is followed by a reception in Garbarini Lounge.
Success seminar
On Thursday, February 9, Alumni Relations presents, “How to be a Successful
Berkeley Engineer.” This first session in a series will feature tips
from current students and alumni on how they’ve managed their careers,
along with their personal ups and downs, and how they managed their stress
along the way. The panel starts at 4 p.m. in Bechtel Engineering Center Room
120A-B. Free pizza will be served! To attend or for more information, contact
