Staff Honors

In November, EECS director of diversity Sheila Humphreys received a “Berkeley Hero” award. She was one of 67 staff personnel whom students singled out as “going beyond the call of duty” in the university’s annual undergraduate experience survey. Humphreys has worked in the EECS Department on diversity issues since 1986; she’s also worked in academic support for students. “The very best part of my job is the privilege of interacting with and learning from our students,” she says, “and trying to support their academic success — sometimes making a difference in someone’s experience at Berkeley — and always feeling personally enriched.” (Peg Skorpinski photo)
