Professor Minute with BioE assistant professor Song Li
What first inspired you
to go into engineering?
When I was in high school, I really enjoyed solving problems in math
and physics. That’s why I chose mechanics and engineering science
as my major in college.
To date, what has been
the most memorable moment in your career?
When I decided to move into the field of bioengineering and when I
joined the bioengineering faculty at Berkeley.
Whom do you most admire?
When I was in middle school, I admired Einstein and Edison. Now I admire
the pioneers in my research field.
If you had a few extra
hours, what would you do?
I enjoy spending time with my kids and playing table tennis, bridge,
and the board game Go.
What should engineering students make sure they do at Berkeley before
they graduate?
Get research experience.
What are you currently reading?
During the winter break, I read a book on gardening.
What is one thing you would like to learn how to do?
Remodel a house.
