College leadership changes

In the wake of Dean Richard Newton’s death January 2 from pancreatic cancer, Executive Associate Dean Fiona Doyle is now serving as acting dean of the College and Associate Dean George Johnson as associate dean for student affairs through spring semester, until further notice. In addition, a celebration of Newton’s life will take place on Sunday, February 11, from 1 to 2:30. To sign up, go to www.coe.berkeley.edu.

MSE 198 (formerly MSE 100) — FIELD TRIPS is offered again this semester. This class takes you to many Bay Area materials industries to learn about exciting career opportunities for MSE graduates. Come to a College of Engineering Focus Group on Wednes-day, January 31, in 120A Bechtel. We’ll ask your opinions on a number of issues related to the College in exchange for free pizza and sodas.
