Events
and Announcements Commencement registration
The 2007 Commencement ceremony will be a traditional all-College
ceremony held on Saturday, May 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at
the Hearst Greek Theatre. Departmental receptions will follow at
various locations on campus. To register for the ceremony, go to
www.coe.berkeley.edu commencement by Friday, April 6. There is
a six-ticket limit per graduating student. If you have questions,
please contact Jacquelyn Smith, Commencement coordinator, at jaqsmith@berkeley.edu.
Engineering in Europe
The Northern Institute of Technology in Hamburg, Germany (a private
institute within the Technical University, Ham-burg), is seeking
applicants to its 2007 Global Engineering Program. The two-year
program is taught in English for students who wish to go beyond
their education to develop management and leadership skills. It
leads to two degrees, a master’s of science and an MBA in
technology management. Application deadline is April 1. For more

If you want the College to hear your opinions on how to improve your
education, serve as a student member on a faculty committee, which
sets policies and plans programs. Committee members must agree to
the publication of their names and e-mail addresses and to hold office
hours on an ad hoc basis. Applications and more information are available

must be submitted to Alvin Chang, alvinc@berkeley.edu, by Monday,
April 2. India internships
Travel to Mumbai, India, this summer and help improve the lives of
people living in slums by providing health education and low-cost
water treatment methods. Internship descriptions vary. For more
