Four engineers seek office in ASUC student government

Vote between Wednesday, April 11, and Friday, April 13! Sixteen polling stations are located throughout campus and the residence halls for your convenience.


Dwight Asuncion, IEOR junior
Running for: External affairs vice president
Qualifications: Current ASUC senator; director at the Office of the External Vice President; president of the International Association of the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience
Goals: Promote student safety by conducting walk-throughs around residences, then lobbying the city to implement safety measures; expand local business hours; and promote student civic engagement.
Loves: Lakers games and sports in general, Bible study and helping others
Quote: “I have worked tirelessly to promote the engineering cause in the senate and will continue to work tirelessly to serve engineers as external affairs vice president.”


Wayne Feng, IEOR/Economics junior
Running for: Senator
Qualifications: Held five different officer positions in clubs such as the Institute of Industrial Engineers and the Engineers’ Joint Council
Goals: Support and create awareness of what student groups do; expand and improve Engineering Week; improve student–industry relations.

Quote: “My priorities would be to fulfill campaign promises and make informed decisions about the issues that come before the senate.”


Winnie Kuo, BioE junior
Running for: Senator
Qualifications: Engineers’ Joint Council representative; co–vice president of Tau Beta Pi; webmaster and publicity chair of the Biomedical Engineering Society
Goals: Connect engineers to each other and other majors; work with the Engineers’ Joint Council to hold more activities open to all engineering students; increase student awareness of services available to them.
Loves: Tau Beta Pi, family time, hanging out with friends
Quote: “I want to continue working for students, serve as a resource for the greater student body and give back to the engineering community.”




Alex Mastrodonato, ME junior
Running for: Senator
Qualifications: Public relations chair for the Interfraternity Council; two-term officer for Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity; campus liaison for the Queer Resource Center
Goals: Ensure that students fully utilize the events, programs and funding available through the ASUC; increase the quality of life on northside by expanding business hours and making it a safe, inviting and entertaining space.
Loves: Tennis, volleyball and volunteer work
Quote: “We need ASUC representation to continue to cultivate strong student groups and services directed toward the engineering community.”
