and Announcements Attention graduating seniors
The ME department is requesting nominations for the Serge Granik
Memorial Award. The $500 merit award will go to an engineering
(any major) and/or computer science graduating senior who has overcome
unusual difficulties or adversity to successfully complete the
degree. Faculty can make nominations, and students can nominate
themselves. For more information, e-mail Sheila at slavin@me.berkeley.edu.
The deadline is Friday, April 13.
Commencement tickets and speakers
The 2007 Commencement ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 19,
from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hearst Greek Theatre. To register
for the ceremony and receive tickets, go to www.coe.berkeley.edu/commencement by April 6.
Be the student speaker at Commencement! Those interested in auditioning
should sign up by emailing Jacquelyn Smith at jaqsmith@berkeley.edu by
Monday, April 9, at 4 p.m.

Spring poster session
Curious about what undergraduate researchers are doing? Thinking
of getting into research yourself? Come by the Hearst Memorial
Mining Building Lobby on Thursday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 1
p.m. for the Spring 2007 Engineering and Science Poster Session.
Learn about the research accomplished by undergraduates, have a
snack and schmooze with faculty. This year’s theme is “Unlocking
the Mysteries of Tomorrow through the Research of Today.” For
