Celebrating
the Class of 2003
Perfect GPAs were not enough
to earn the following 10 students departmental citations and two Bechtel
awards. These eight men and two women were chosen by faculty as top in
their fields because they stand out not just as students but also as people
and as contributors to their social and academic communities.
While there are many more students just like them among the College of
Engineerings 721 undergraduate members of the Class of 2003, we
have highlighted these students as a sampling of the diversity of nationalities,
talents, and interests in this years graduating class.
These profiles show that students who have their heads in their books
can also have their hands in a multitude of other projects and their hearts
in interests both in and outside of school. This years citation
winners are artists, singers, social activists, and avid travelers. They
come from as close as Pleasant Hill and as far away as Taiwan and have
one thing in common the desire to improve everything they are involved
with, including the world around them.
Meeting our citation winners is realizing that the dreams, interests and
depths of our engineering students go beyond the love of crunching numbers
and solving problems.
