Barry Lam
is the founder, chairman, and CEO of
Quanta Computer
, the world's largest designer and manufacturer of notebook computers. One in every four notebook computers sold in the world today is manufactured by Quanta. In 2004, they produced 2 million laptops a month, or one per second.
With over 30 years experience, Lam is widely hailed as a visionary and has been recognized globally for his accomplishments. He was twice chosen by
Business Week
as one of 50 "Stars of Asia" and in 2002 was named one of the top 25 managers of the year. He continues to play an active role in the company's strategy and vision as well as R&D initiatives.
A patron of the arts, Lam is director of Cloud Gate Theatre Group and chair of Quanta Education Foundation, which promotes culture and arts to enrich people's lives. Lam received his bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University.
