Researchers at UC Berkeley have invented a light-deflecting technique that could one day render objects invisible. The breakthrough, reported by two teams of scientists in the laboratory of UC Berkeley Professor Xiang Zhang, in the near term could spawn such products as DVDs capable of storing many high-definition movies on a single optical disc, and microscope-like instruments with incredible resolution.
