Berkeley Concrete Canoe Presentations at 2009 Nationals
Jun 12, 2009
"Bear Area" Presentation
This was UC Berkeley's presentation that received 1st place in
Presentations (one of 4 categories) in Alabama on June 12th, 2009. The
canoe this year was named, "Bear Area". The Concrete Canoe competition
is a competition between schools across the nation in which Civil
Engineering students design a canoe based on hydrodynamic properties,
perform structural analysis to ensure that the canoe doesn't crack,
design the concrete to make it strong enough and light enough so that
it floats, and build the canoe to be raced. This year in 2009, the team
won 1st Overall at Nationals as well, for the first time since 18 years!
