Professor George Leitmann receives Richard E. Bellman Control Heritage Award
Professor Emeritus George Leitmann George Leitmann, Professor Emeritus of engineering science and associate Dean for International Relations at UC Berkeley, has received the prestigious Richard E. Bellman Control Heritage Award from the American Automatic Control Council. The Bellman Award is given for distinguished career contributions to the theory or application of automatic control. It is the highest recognition of professional achievement for US control systems engineers and scientists. This is the latest honor in Professor Leitmann's illustrious career, which spans over 50 years and has included everything from research and teaching to serving as the first ombudsman in the UC system. Other honors include membership in the National Academy of Engineering; the 2005 Werner Heisenberg Medal, awarded by the A. v. Humboldt Foundation, Germany; the Isaacs Award, given by the International Society of Dynamics Games (first recipient); Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award, UC Berkeley; and Distinguished Emeritus Award, UC Berkeley, among many others.
