CUES - Center for Underrepresented Engineering Students

The College of Engineering has built comprehensive programs to broaden participation in engineering among students from underrepresented backgrounds.  We recruit and retain a diverse range of outstanding engineers by offering unparalleled opportunities for mentoring, research, and experiential learning. Through the College’s Center for Underrepresented Engineering Students (CUES), we offer four specific programs:

Charles Tunstall Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP)
Academic support for undergraduates and recruitment of Berkeley engineering students, including prospective high school and community college students.

Julia Morgan Engineering Program (JMEP)
Supporting and celebrating women through the stages of a Berkeley Engineering education.

Graduate Academic Diversity (GrAD) Program
Encouraging students to continue education towards graduate school.

Summer Undergraduate Program in Engineering Research at Berkeley (SUPERB)
Summer research at UC Berkeley.
