Welcome TransfersCONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME!
We extend our congratulations on your admission to UC Berkeley’s College of Engineering for the 2009-2010 academic year. This is an incredibly exciting time to enter the engineering field, where science and mathematics are applied to address societal problems. The College mission statement: “Educating leaders, Creating knowledge, Serving society” truly embodies our philosophy towards undergraduate education. We are particularly proud of the track record of our Engineering Transfer students. Recent classes have a graduation rate between 91% and 96%. Many of our junior transfer students go on to pursue graduate degrees in the best engineering graduate programs throughout the nation. We are eager to answer any questions you may have about the Berkeley Engineering experience: College of Engineering faculty and staff will hold open office hours for video chats using Skype. You may also contact Assistant Dean Michele de Coteau at mdecot@berkeley.edu, with questions. She will direct you to the appropriate campus resource people. Please also feel free to contact Michele if you are planning a visit to campus. UC Berkeley has a tremendous amount to offer its students--though we think that the students offer more to us! For information about undergraduate research, engineering student groups, tours of the Berkeley campus, the Transfer, Re-entry, and Student Parent Center, our Skype office hours and more, we invite you to browse the links on the right side of this page. Deciding which college to attend is not easy. We understand that you have options and will no doubt weigh a number of factors as you make your final decision. At the end of the process, we certainly hope that you will choose to enroll at Berkeley!
