If you are planning to see an adviser, call ahead to schedule an appointment!
We can't stress this enough. Even if you can only call an hour or two before you wish to see an adviser - whether it is during breakfast, in between classes, or on a study break - calling ahead will most likely drastically reduce your waiting time.

Note: Wednesdays are always first-come, first-served drop-in days, so appointments are not necessary nor accepted on Wednesdays. However, waiting times may vary dramatically on Wednesdays depending on demand. It's always better to make an appointment if you anticipate you'll be in a time crunch.

College of Engineering student advisers are available to answer your questions regarding degree and graduation requirements, College and University policies, forms and petitions, academic concerns and campus resources. Advisers are assigned based upon your last name and work with you throughout your entire undergraduate career.
How do I contact or meet with my adviser?
Advising is available on an appointment only basis with the exception of Wednesdays, which are reserved for drop-in advising.
Appointments:
Appointments may be made in person at 308 McLaughlin Hall or by calling (510) 642-7594 between 9am-Noon & 1pm-4pm, Monday-Friday. See the advising schedule for your adviser's appointment times.
It is strongly recommended you call ahead to schedule an appointment. This will reduce your waiting time and allow your adviser to review your file more thoroughly.
Please be on time to your appointment. If you are over five minutes late, you may be asked to reschedule.
Drop-in:
There is drop-in advising every Wednesday from 9:30-11:45am and 1-3:30pm. Come to Engineering Student Services in 308 McLaughlin Hall and sign in at the front desk. Drop-in advising is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Email and Telephone:
You may also contact your adviser via email or telephone, however, those who seek advice in person receive priority. It is strongly recommended you meet with your adviser in person for questions or concerns requiring in-depth discussion.

Advisers assignments are based upon last name unless you are currently Engineering-Undeclared. Undeclared students see our specialized undeclared adviser, Mary Howell, until declaration of their major.
