Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences

Below are all the lower division course requirements needed for graduation for electrical engineering and computer science.

Any course that you have not completed will need to be taken at UC Berkeley in order to fulfill the degree requirements. For more information on these courses, see the UC Berkeley General Catalog and the web site for the department administering the course (e.g. Math 1A is part of the Department of Mathematics.)

  • UCB  Math 1A
  • UCB  Math 1B
  • UCB  Math 53
  • UCB  Math 54
  • UCB  Physics 7A
  • UCB  Physics 7B
  • UCB  Computer Science 61A
  • UCB  Computer Science 61B
  • UCB  Computer Science 61C
  • UCB  Electrical Engineering 20N
  • UCB  Electrical Engineering 40
  • UCB  Science Elective; one course from the following: Physics 7C or H7C, Chemistry 1A, Biology 1A, Astronomy 7AB, Biology 1B, Chemistry 1B, 3AB, 4AB, and 5, Molecular and Cell Biology 32/32L, or an upper-division course in Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Planetary Science, Integrative Biology, Molecular and Cell Biology, Physics, or Plant and Microbial Biology
  • UCB  English 1A
  • UCB  English 1B

All courses needed for your major and courses taken for the reading and composition requirement (English 1A and English 1B) must be taken for a letter grade.

To determine which courses at your California Community College are equivalent to UC Berkeley's, see www.assist.org. NOTE: If an equivalency involves a series of courses, all the courses in the series must be completed. No partial credit is given.

All courses taken at a college or university that is not a California Community College will need to be evaluated by the department for content equivalency after you have submitted your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR).

The entire curriculum for your incoming year can be found in the appendix of the College of Engineering Announcement 2006-07 (2006-07 has the curriculum for entering freshman for fall 2006 and entering transfer students for fall 2008 & spring 2009)
