Dear Future Berkeley Engineering Student,

Congratulations on your admission to Berkeley Engineering! This is already a singular achievement, one of which you and your family can be very proud. On this website we provide many invaluable resources that will reinforce the impressions that led you to apply to Berkeley in the first place and, we hope, convince you that this is the place to be for a world-class engineering education!

The College provides a wide range of departments, research opportunities, interdisciplinary collaborations and student organizations, all in the setting of the beautiful Bay Area.

You will become familiar with this wealth of offerings as you study the College and campus web sites over the next several weeks. But don't restrict yourself to the Web! Come join us on Saturday, April 12 for Cal Day, UC Berkeley's annual open house, or if you are unable to make it, register for one of our April information sessions.

Again, congratulations, and we hope you will decide to make Berkeley Engineering your home for the next four years!

Sincerely,

S. Shankar Sastry, Dean

Engineering: The Berkeley Equation

I cannot imagine a better place to spend your next four years than Berkeley Engineering.

What first struck me when I came to Berkeley as a professor of mineral engineering was the caliber of students, faculty and staff - all with unique talents, bound together by their passion for learning, teaching and improving our world. I am still amazed each day by the level of engagement and altruistic spirit of our undergraduates.

But even the best of us need a helping hand now and then. The College of Engineering and the Berkeley campus are equipped with an extensive network of advising, mentorship, tutoring and career services to help you make the most of your undergraduate education.

This, in combination with our abundance of student societies and academic enrichment opportunities, is why I believe Berkeley Engineers succeed!

Where will you spend your next four years? Here are just a few of the many reasons we think you should consider Berkeley Engineering:

 Student and Professor in Lab
Our Faculty

The Berkeley Engineering faculty is among the best in the world, including 10 members of the National Academy of Sciences and 76 members of the National Academy of Engineering.  Our students also benefit from the campus's top scholars in every discipline and close interaction with faculty through small classes, seminars, and research apprenticeships. Concrete Canoe Team  Student Life

There's no such thing as a typical day at Berkeley. On any given afternoon, you could find yourself in a classroom being taught by a Nobel Laureate, at a Dave Matthews Band concert in the historic Greek Theatre, a meeting for the Concrete Canoe Team, a football game with over 75,000 California Golden Bears (Cal) fans, or shopping on world famous Telegraph Avenue. You can find just about anything you're looking for at Berkeley, and if you don't, we encourage you to create something! More...

Sather Tower Overlooking SF BayBerkeley and the Bay Area
