How will my gift be used?
The Annual Fund is used where it is needed most, primarily to support students and faculty. The Dean's allocation for the 2007-08 school year is shown below:

37% Student Excellence
Over 4,300 students are enrolled in the College. From their first day on campus, the Annual Fund is used to enhance our students' academic experience, supporting areas such as:
- Student scholarships
- Special student leadership projects
- New student orientation
- Undergraduate research opportunities
- Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology
36% Faculty Excellence
Each year, the Annual Fund provides:
- Start-up funding essential to attracting and hiring outstanding new faculty
- Matching funds which enable our faculty to successfully compete for national grants for new programs at the College
Faculty excellence is critical to promoting student excellence. Our faculty draw the best students to the College and help them become Berkeley Engineers.
15% Teaching Labs & Classrooms
The Annual Fund helps provide state-of-the-art teaching facilities and laboratories by:
- Leveraging high-impact new equipment gifts
- Supporting critical teaching lab enhancements
12% College Outreach
Connecting prospective students and alumni with Berkeley Engineering is so important to our mission. The College reaches out in many ways, including:
- Forefront, the College's magazine highlighting research and student accomplishments
- Engineering News, the biweekly student newsletter
- The College's high school outreach programs
